6 – The top 5 things you must do to prepare for a job
interview
Here are
the top 5 things you must do to prepare for a job interview to improve your chances.
- Review your skills: There is no substitute for
effective preparation. Make sure you know your skills and attributes. Have a clear summary
of what you can bring to the job and the benefits that you can offer the
employer.
- Prepare your interview answers to the hardest
questions. There are always going to be the same type of interview questions repeatedly
asked at a job interview….What are your main strengths?……What are your 3 biggest
weaknesses?……What do you know about the company and its products? Makes sure that you have
‘model’ answers that sound natural when you repeat them back.
- Dress for success. At interviews smart neat business
attire always works well. If in doubt dress smart conservatively as you cannot be
criticised for being too professional looking.
- Know precisely where the location of the job interview
is and make sure you allow sufficient time to get there at least 5 minutes
early.
- Research the company what it does and its
range of products. You can usually get all the information you require by reviewing their
website. If you are asked about any of these and you have not done your research this will
look very much like you are uninterested. If you are not asked about the company then try
to add this into the job interview.
